Fungsi kantor depan yaitu : 
1.      Menjual kamar, kegiatan yang dilakukan antara lain: menerima pemesanan kamar, melakukan pendaftaran tamu, memblok kamar 
2.      Memberikan informasi mengenai seluruh produk, fasilitas, pelayanan dan aktivitas yang  ada di hotel maupun diluar hotel
3.      Mengkoordinasikan kepada bagian lain yang terkait dalam rangka memenuhi keinginan tamu serta memberikan pelayanan yang maksimal
4.      Melaporkan status kamar yang terkini
5.      Mencatat, memeriksa pembayaran tamu serta menangani rekenin tamu
6.      Membuat laporan yang dibutuhan oleh hotel
7.      Memberikan pelayanan telekomunikasi untuk tamu
8.      Memberikan pelayanan barang bawaan tamu
9.      Menyelesaikan keluhan tamu

Bell Boy not bell girl

Bellboy is a position in front office department who has a main responsibility to help the guest with their luggage, explain the hotel and room facilities. this job is looks really simple  only help to carry the luggage put on the the trolley and bring the luggage and escort the guest to their room.

What is he do ?

Check-In

  1. They greet the guest and offering assistance.
  2. Take care the guest luggage and give the luggage ticket to the guest
  3. Escort the guest to the receptionist
  4. When the guest rooms is ready he will collect the luggage ticket to identify the guest luggage and explain the hotel facilities while escort the guest with their luggage to their room.
  5. Put the guest luggage on the luggage rack, they will make sure the guest will easily open their luggage.
  6. Explain the room facilities, the safety box, AC, Mini bar, Bathroom amenities, and everything. 

 Room move

Unluckily the guest room have a problem its time to help the guest move to the other room. and the bell boy will help you to move all of the guest belonging to the new room, and make sure nothing left in your new room.

Check-Out

  1. Once the bellboy received an order from their captain to collect the guest luggage and their captain will assign one of the to go.
  2. The bellboy will come to guest room to collect the luggage, count it and give the guest the luggage ticket.
  3. He will keep the luggage in the store till the guest settle their bills and ready to go.
  4. Bell boy will collect the ticket and go to the guest luggage and help them to put in the car baggage. 
If the hotel is not really big bellboy also will sent the massage and newspaper to he guest room.

Lobby greeter

Lobby Greeter or Doorman

Lobby greeter or doorman is a position in front office department who will create a first impression to the guest. His working area is around the lobby entrance. his main job is welcoming the guest and farewell. he will help the guest to open the car door's and close it. he will communicate with the public area attendant to keep the lobby area clean. this position is really simple but boost the guest satisfaction.

The lobby greeter is the start up position if you want to have career in front office department. you will learn how to communicate with the guest, how to help the guest with their simple needs. and you will learn a lot how to be nice and friendly.

Front Office Organizational Chart

Organizational Chart of Front Office Department has a lot of varies. it is depent on the size, service style, and facilities of the hotel. Generaly we can catagorized into three kinds :

1. Small sized hotel
The small hotel only has plenty rooms, so it wouldn't need many people to run the hotel oprational. Most of the job description for each position are really general. one people can take a lot of varies of job  at once.

2. Medium sized hotel
More rooms of the hotel will create more job for their staff thats why in one positions they have less job varies but the other side the capacity become more.
3. Large sized hotel
This kind of hotel has a lot of room so they need to creat really simple job descriptions and a thousand of that simple job to be done for each positions. (Chart is on progres)

Front Office Department



Hotel Front Office Department Functions

Front office is the center of hotel service and the main revenue center of the hotel. why this department is very important in the hotel. Because it has really important functions such as :

1. Revenue center
As we know A hotel is an establishment that provides lodging paid on a short-term basis. So the main product of the hotel is their rooms logically their biggest revenue is come from it. The hotel room is prepare by the Housekeeping department and sell by front office department.

2. Service center
A lot of hotel is providing different service depend on their class, but front office department is always be the brain of the service when the other act as the body part to exceed the costumer satisfaction.

3. Create the hotel image in costumer mind
What's on your mind if you just arrived in the hotel and someone open your taxi door and say "Welcome to our hotel, How are you ?" with his big smile. Front office job is to create the first and the last impression of the hotel.

4. Information Center
When the guest want to know regarding the hotel facilities, tour arrangement, good restaurant nearby, recommended activity, the Front Office team will be glad to assist them.
